Our 224-bed hospital includes a medical ICU, cardiovascular ICU, PCU, open heart surgery center and behavioral health. In addition, we have accredited programs in orthopedics, chest pain, and inpatient diabetes, plus an award-winning emergency department.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Able to prepare sterile products in accordance with NIOSH and USP 797 standards
  • Able to maintain Pyxis through refill and load reports
  • Able to triage phone calls coming into the department
  • Maintains competency requirements of the department
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory, including checking for expiration dates, rotation of stock, and proper handling of medications
  • Maintains sterile compound area inventory, including appropriate cleaning of supplies and shelving
  • Assists in orientation and training of new employees as needed
  • Assists in ordering for the department as required
  • Differentiates stat and routine medications with proper prioritization and timely processing
  • Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Works independently and handles stress appropriately
  • Works cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff
  • Handles frequent interruptions and adapts to changes in workload and work schedule
  • Sets priorities, makes critical decisions, and responds quickly to emergency requests 
  • Meets pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, acute care, psychiatric, oncology and obstetric patients
  • Automated pharmacy system
Qualifications
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have basic computer knowledge and skills
  • Pharmacy experience or pharmacy coursework
  • Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to the geriatric population obtained either in education, experience or subsequent training
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification within 6 months of hire or Pharmacy Intern Licensure
