You will be responsible for:
  • Adheres to approved standards of aseptic technique during a Diagnostic Lab procedure, utilizing equipment and supplies in a safe and prudent manner.  Facilitates implementation of physician’s orders accurately, promptly, and courteously.
  • Demonstrates competence and knowledge in efficiently preparing a patient for Diagnostic Lab procedure using established aseptic technique.  Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology and uses this knowledge to enhance Hemodynamic and angiographic techniques as observed by attending physician.
  • Assists the physician and anticipates equipment needs.  Recognizes potential emergency/life threatening situations and implements preventative measures as directed by the physician.
  • Demonstrates technical and manual dexterity during procedures while establishing priorities for each task to be performed under physician’s direction.
  • Utilizes supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Recognizes and communicates the electrocardiographic/hemodynamic changes to the physician and appropriate staff members throughout the procedure.  Files all patient data and films in accordance with established department system on a daily basis as observed by supervisor.
  • Documents accurate and pertinent data concerning the patient’s condition during procedure and reports data to the appropriate person.
  • Records temporary playback or procedure for initial, immediate review by physician.
  • Prepares patient (preps, shaves) in a timely fashion and notifies physician promptly.
  • Moves, lifts, assists patient appropriately to procedure table and provides for maximum privacy during procedure.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate, problem solve and improvise common equipment malfunctions.
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and practice new techniques and equipment utilization by attending training sessions and familiarizing self with new procedure revisions as they occur.
  • Demonstrates and practices proper protection measures to insure radiation safety to self, fellow employees, visitors, and physicians.
  • Always demonstrates an awareness of radiation safety procedures for self and others by wearing protective equipment as required and minimizing radiation exposure to self and others by keeping the x-ray tube as close to the patient’s body as possible, also by standing in areas that will give least exposure to self but always maintaining patient safety.
  • Communicates effectively and frequently with team members to share information and solve problems in a positive manner as observed by supervisor.
  • Accompanies patient to his/her room and/or discharge, and gives report to the unit nurse.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of drugs commonly used in the Diagnostic Lab.
  • Performs filming and printing of hard copies for Angiography.
  • Regulates KVP and MA for abdominals, peripheral run-offs, and other special procedures.
  • Participates in mandatory in services and continuing education as mandated by policies & procedures/external agencies and as directed by supervisors.
 
 
Qualifications
What will you need?
  • Able to operate Interventional and Cardiac x-ray units in the various lab areas
  • Able to operate MAC lab and similar procedural documentation systems.
  • Able to operate in CERNER and other department IT software documentation for department functionality.
  • Able to operate balloon pumps, operate code cart, IV contrast injectors, and inventory systems as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with hospital personnel, patients, and the public. 
  • Ability to supervise, delegate and evaluate
  • Ability to follow through and to perform numerous tasks at once and work with minimal supervision.
  • Certificate of Radiology Technology from approved AMA school of Radiology Technology
  • Certificate: Radiology from Approved AMA school of Radiology Technology.
  • At least 2 years experience in Diagnostic Cath/IR Lab performing STEMI procedures.
  • Basic EKG course or do so within 6 months of hiring.
  • American Registered Radiology Technology License (ARRT)
  • Registered Radiology Technologist or Certified Cardiology Technologist
  • BLS/ACLS
  • 5 years’ experience in Diagnostic Cath/IR Lab performing STEMI procedures (Preferred)
  • Advanced levels of EKG training. (Preferred)
