Qualifications
You will be responsible for:
  • Performs CT and MRI imaging procedures
  • Maintains records of examinations performed
  • Obtains and documents patient clinical history and explains procedure
  • Positions patients and equipment, and selects technical factors to produce procedure images and data as needed to meet radiologist standards
  • Sends images to QC station and then to PACS and archives images
  • Enters patient demographic information into logs and system
  • Transports, lifts, moves and positions patients as needed to obtain images, transport patient to/from department, table or as otherwise needed for patient care
  • Moves and adjusts imaging equipment, including CT gantry, injector and MR coils
  • Prepares and administers contrast material for CT and MRI, including administration of oral and IV contrast per radiologist instructions and exam protocols
  • Performs direct patient care duties, within scope of practice, including assisting radiologist with interventional procedures such as biopsies or drainage procedures
  • Performs basic patient care including monitoring of patient condition, and caring for patient safety and privacy.  Obtains and documents patient history and explains procedure
  • Performs clerical duties, including documentation of care received as well as assisting in routine department clerical needs
  • Screens for magnet safety all patients, families or others entering magnetic areas
  • Performs equipment QC and calibrations
  • Rotates through standby call, and is available on premises within 30 minutes of notification
  • Competent with PACS and fixing images as needed for Radiologist reading and archiving
  • Inventories, cleans and stocks work area
  • Coordinates equipment service and preventative maintenance
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as needed for completion of duties
  • Much of the work is non-routine
  • Employee must be able to work independently as need to work without supervision and on call
  • Judgments must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis
  • Mature judgment is frequently needed in dealing with special patient requirements and assessing critical issues such as contrast reactions and magnet safety
  • Must be able to assess and maintain workflow in area
  • May be asked to function as lead technologist, assessing technologist competence, scheduling staff and directing workflow
  • May be asked to train new employees in area
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision
 
What will you need?
  • Two years CT/MR experience required
  • Two years of CT experience is needed for entry level MRI position if no previous MRI experience
  • BLS required
  • Must be a graduate of an approved A.R.R.T. program with current A.R.R.T registration and Florida license in Radiography  
  • MRI registered or one-year experience
  • Patient care and communication skills to deal with patients from infant, childhood, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups 
  • Must be able to use computer system for data entry and retrieval
  • Basic clerical skills, record keeping, documentation, transfer of images to disk or film and excellent customer service skills
