GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

Direction of the day-to-day functions summarized herein in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations, guidelines and standards that govern Florida Hospital in keeping with the stated mission of the hospital.  As a member of the Leadership team, the Director of Finance participates in formulating policy and in devising procedures essential to the achievement of objectives as well as developing and implementing organization plans. Develops and maintains analysis tools and assists with local and regional initiatives. Responsible for supervision and work of Financial Anaylst.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for Assisting the CFO with organization and management of assigned departments, administration and program development.
  • Manages established programs and policies of the West Florida Region General Accounting Office.
  • Participates in monthly financial close.
  • Assists in the preparation and filing of the Medicare, Medicaid and AHCA prior year cost reports annually.
  • Develops, implements and assists managers/directors in utilizing systems and reports to ensure departments function within budgeted guidelines.
  • Responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting of decision support data and for evaluation and implementation of software related to Decision Support. 
  • Responsible for system development of Decision Support programs and dashboards
  • Primary lead on analyzing financial information to support strategic decisions and operation improvement projects. 
  • Will provide timely turn-around on ad-hoc analysis.
  • Provides information to assist senior management in making financial, operational, or policy decisions.
  • Will help drive productivity results and meet with department leaders to help them understand their data and strategize on improvement opportunities
  • Performs delegated functions in compliance with hospital and departmental policies.
  • Manages the development of the annual operating budget.
  • Collaborates with West Florida Regional General Accounting Office to ensure regular and timely balance sheet reconciliation are complete.
  • Assists CFO in adhering to improving financial performance, improving EBDITA and net operating margins.
  • Participates is AHS designated meetings.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate with all hospital contacts.
  • Must possess basic typing skills, computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be well organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED

  • Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Peoplesoft.
  • Have 5+ years of experience in healthcare analytics/auditing, public accounting or related field; and minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree; Accounting, Business Administration or Health Administration
  • 5+ years of experience in financial activities/responsibilities
  • Master’s Degree; Business Administration or Health Administration
  • CPA desirable; Healthcare specific coursework or certifications

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Accounting, Business Administration or Health Administration
  • 5+ years of experience in financial activities/responsibilities

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Master’s Degree; Business Administration or Health Administration
  • CPA desirable; Healthcare specific coursework or certifications
