Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center has provided faith-based, whole person care to the community for more than 65 years. You will be responsible for:

• Manages the policies and procedures as related to the clinical area,
• Responsible for the application of nutritional guidelines and standards in accordance with current practices,
• Patient care activities include, but not limited to:
• Prioritizes work by preparing daily visitation lists,
• Reviews medical record to assess nutritional needs,
• Accurately completes nutritional assessments, calorie counts, obtaining diet histories and food preferences,
• Instructs/educates patients and/or significant others on modified diets
• Documents accurately and completely in the medical record
• Orders adequate supply of nutrition supplements according to patient needs,
• Assists patients with pre-select alternatives if/when needed
• Maintains accurate patient information in the medical record
• Accurately completes patient nutrition evaluation when indicated by screening triggers or consults,
• Assists in the planning of all patients’ menus,
• Assists the department with special projects when requested,
• Attends all relevant multidisciplinary team meetings and patient care conferences,
• Completes electronic medical charting accurately and in a timely manner including all pertinent patient information relating to their nutrition status,
• Coordinates clinical nutritional care services with those rendered to other departments,
• Plans and monitors nutritional care of patients using current dietetic knowledge,
• Provides individualized nutrition care when appropriate for patients at nutritional risk using appropriate calculations and judgment,
• Has knowledge of and understands current Joint Commission standards for the clinical aspect of the department,
• Revises policies and procedures as needed to meet TJC standards,
• Monitors and coordinates QAPI activities in the clinical nutrition area for the department,
• Assists in departmental, hospital and community in-services/education when assigned/needed,
• Upholds professional standards of performance and conduct,
• Excellent customer service skills,
• Remains current with Registration and License continuing education hours,
• Works with all staff
• Timeliness of all duties
• Completes daily rounding on assigned floor(s)
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications


What you will need:

 

• B.S. or advanced degree from an accredited institution with a major in Food and Nutrition OR Dietetics
• Successful completion of dietetic internship
• In the process of being registered within the first six (6) months from hire and must obtain registration within 12 months of hire by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• In the process of being licensed within the first six (6) months from hire and must obtain license within 12 months of hire by the State of Florida
• Communication/motivational skills
• Demonstrates leadership and teaching skills
• Knowledge of patient population
• Basic mathematic skills required
• One (1) year of experience as a Clinical Dietitian, preferred
