The largest health care provider in Johnson County, Kansas, the SMH network includes Shawnee Mission Medical Center, SMH – Overland Park and SMH – Prairie Star. The 54-acre campus at SMMC is comprised of the main hospital, a community health education building, six physician office buildings and an associate child care center. The Emergency Department at SMMC is the busiest in Johnson County. We deliver more babies each year at the Shawnee Mission Birth Center than any other hospital in the metropolitan area and our Center for Women’s Health is nationally recognized. We have 10 Shawnee Mission Primary Care locations with more than 70 Board-certified doctors who specialize in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics as well as Centra Care Shawnee Mission Urgent Care and Spira Care locations.



The Ambulatory Network Analyst will support members of the Ambulatory Network department in data analysis, project management and business planning as they work together to grow the SMH access points and market share. The position will monitor referral data and determine leakage points helping to develop a strategy and process for meeting needs within the SMH network.  The role serves to develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with physicians, physician practices, businesses and partnering community organizations.



·         Responsible for understanding referral data, analyzing it and determining growth strategies for all ambulatory sites. 

·         Periodically undertakes zip code analyses for various ambulatory locations determining strategies for growth. 

·         Works with members of the Ambulatory Network team to determine community outreach strategies and supports the team in those efforts as needed. 

·         Writes business plans for new business opportunities as they arise.

·         Determines ways to monitor effectiveness of new programs and systems as they are implemented.

·         Identifies “secret shopper” opportunities to ensure consumer experiences are connected and positive.

·         Maintains awareness of competitor activity and supports the team to react appropriately. 

·         Supports the SMH network through involvement in organization-wide activities such as culture and experience training. 

·         Becomes the local expert in the CRM software and collaborates with CRM vendor to glean information as needed to help support and grow the network. 

·         Supports the construction efforts of the outpatient health campus and all work to bring the facility on line.

·         Thinks about growth continually and identifies opportunities to extend the reach of the SMH brand.

·         Supports the Vice President of Ambulatory Network in projects as needed

·         Supports SMH strategic planning efforts by tracking and reporting on metrics in Expand the Network and Engage the Consumer.




·         Bachelor’s degree

·         Master’s degree or working toward

·         Previous data analysis experience even on a limited basis

·         Previous hospital or healthcare business experience even on a limited basis
